I Wish that I Could Go to Africa...

I Wish That I Could Go to Africa....
If I only had a dollar for every time that someone says to me, "I wish that I could go to Africa, but I can't stay in rustic places like you do."  Well, I would love to show you some of my favorite "rustic" places that I love to visit in Africa.  I won't even post any of my animal photos...just the lodges....

Here is the first one.....

Royal Malewane in South Africa...

Here is the entrance...

The spa isn't too shabby...

Love the pool!!!

The cottages are fabulous...

No bucket showers here...

The spa area pool was nice, but it is pretty grand to
have your own plunge pool, too...

The lodge living area is a nice place to read a book,
catch up on email, or edit photos...

Wherever you decide to perch at Royal Malewane,
I know you would love it!

A Walk in Sue's Garden...Part V

I can tell you by experience that the raspberries and strawberries are delectable!  I can’t even name all of the lettuces and herbs that could have easily been on covers of magazines!  Eggplant, broccoli, artichokes, and peppers were all beautiful! And there was so much more!!!   And the flowers…oh the flowers…well that is another story!

A Walk in Sue's Garden...Part IV

But, have you ever heard of a tree tomato?  They are different from Mississippi tomatoes, for sure.  When I sampled the tree tomato for the first time, I asked what it was.  I didn’t argue when I was told that it was a tomato….I just thought there was miscommunication.  Ha!

A Walk in Sue's Garden Part III

The avocado trees were sighing from the weight of all of the fruit.  I also spied apple, banana, pear, passion fruit, lemon, mango, fig, and lime trees.

A Walk in Sue's Garden...Part I

Barry and I were very lucky to have a personal tour of Sue’s garden before we left Sirikoi.  I was totally blown away!  Much of the delicious food and beautiful flowers at Sirikoi is grown in her garden.  I believe that it must be a constant endeavor to keep hungry animals out!

her 3 cubs!
A wee elephant with her
mama…
A tiny cub…the only remaining
one out of three…life is hard
on the Mara…
Madomo and her only
remaining cub…She has been pushed
out of the Marsh Pride….
I have no explanation of
why this happens?
Maybe there are too
many cubs and or lions for
the pride to support???
Sad…. (Take a look at
The Marsh Pride Facebook
page!)
An adult hippo with 3
little ones… she probably
wanted time alone….
oh well…
The 2 most adorable little ones

to meet and photograph at
one of the Maasai villages
near Olonana!!!!
An adult black rhino with her teenager! It was a bonus seeing them!!! There are very few left…..poaching is out of control!!!!

A Young Baboon being groomed by mama…

These mama Cape Buffaloes are not thinking of letting anyone get near their little ones…

This young giraffe must be younger than he looks to me! Giraffes nurse up to one year old. This one looks like an adult to me!
