Hello Helsinki!

Our boat docked at 7am. Barry and I got up very early in order to make the best of the time we had here in Finland. We can't get the song about Finland from the Broadway musical Spamalot out of our minds as we walked around Helsinki. It's a funny song! I am sure that people were wondering about our sanity as throughout our day....one of us would sing a line from the song and we would both just start laughing....uncontrollably! Instead of hiring a private guide or going on a group tour....we followed the Rick Steve's walking tour...with Barry leading and me, his only client, following! We had a ball....even though the Temppellaukio Church (which was the at the end of our walking tour) was not yet open! Ha! We loved the architecture throughout the town as well as the dramatically situated Luthern Church and the Uspenski Cathedral. The town square was beautiful and the open air market was great! Shirley Windham had told me about the delicious strawberries and cherries......and they were! Over all, we were impressed with the beauty and cleanliness of the city. We loved sitting on our balcony and eating all of the fruit we bought while watching the sun set....way after dinner!
