We left Cape Town this morning for Hermanus. The drive was heart wrenching in places and beautiful in others. We passed miles and miles of shack villages. Very sad. And we also drove past some gorgeous beaches. At times, I felt like we were on one of those cliff hanging skinny roads on the Amalfi coastnin Italy. At other times, we had vineyards on either side of us. Our destination....Birkenhead House in Hermanus. LOVE it! The same brilliant lady owns Royal Malawane as well as our next destination. I told Barry at dinner tonight that if Liz Birden opened a resort on Three Mile Island......I would be the first guest! She obviously has "IT"! Besides fabulous locations and accommodations.....she has picked the best staff!!! After arriving, we hung out on the terrace and had lunch ...... There were whales everywhere!!! They were very close in. Lots of mamas and babies. Stellar lunch! Barry decided to take the cliff walk into town. Wisely, I decided to stay here and look at whales. Grand time! Before dinner tonight, we had canapesz and drinks with a cute English honeymoon couple as well as a family from Savannah. Had a lot of fun talking to them all. We go diving with Great Whitesmin the morning. Hope the pics turn out ok!!!
