Up, Up, and Away!

We had a wakeup call/visit at 4:45am this morning! It had rained most of the night.....so we endured quite a ride from Olonana to Governor's Camp for a unbelievable hot air ballon ride. We slid all over the road even though we were in a 4-wheel drive vehicle. At a couple of points, our driver had to drive off the road and the rest of the time he had 2 wheels on the mud road and 2 wheels off just to keep traction! We arrived just in time to jump in the ballon. We missed the safety talk and instructions. What a treat to see the sun rise over the Masai Mara and all the animals from above. We saw 8 lions literally spreading out around a herd of antelope....WILD! Most of the animals looked up at us. We had an uneventful landing and were greeted with a large champagne breakfast. We then rode with a guide and his 5 visitors around until we met up with our guide Vincent. This morning we had fun watching a Cheeta stalk an impala and then go after it...but she missed. We saw 2 male lions with a zebra they had killed and dragged into a tree. Saw a rhino...which are rare to see in Kenya unlike South Africa. Just finished a lovely lunch and about to go visit a Masai village.
