Penguins and Lambs, Oh My!

We had a tour of the gardens and grounds at Otahuna before our late departure. The gardens are so extensive that it took 2 hours! The house and gardens were completed in early 1890's. Sir Heaton Rhodes died at age 96 with no heirs...and hIs wife had died years earlier. The house and garden passed through several hands and fell into disrepair for years. The property was bought by an American couple out of receivership in the late 90's. They have discovered the "bones" of much of the gardens and have extended the gardens beyond, beyond, beyond!!!!!! I am so happy that we were able to stays there! We drove down to Oamaru. We are staying with my sister-in-law's cousin Graeme for the night. He prepared fa beautiful dinner. We went to see the blue penguin colony. That was so much fun and interesting. Cute little critters! And I got to help feed the baby lambs!
